After a couple run throughs, it is easy to say that Chance The Rapper’s new album, Coloring Book, is the most soulful and epic sounding hip hop records in the last couple of years. This album shouts at you, sings to you, teases you, and lifts you within the span of 14 original produced tracks.
This is the follow up to his critically acclaimed Acid Rap – the 2013 mixtape which took him from local Chicago rapper, to the genre’s most sought after independent artists. Since then he’s picked up a lot of superstar friends, some of whom appear on this album including Kanye West, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Justin Bieber, Future, and Kirk Franklin.

Three years later, and the Montreal native producer is now putting out one of the years most anticipated albums in 99.9%. From the moment he dropped “GLOWED UP” featuring Anderson.Paak, it was certain amongst those awaiting the LP release, that it would exceed all expectations. With the album now out, and multiple tour dates selling out quickly, it seems as though this will be the year Kaytranada truly gets his, and goes beyond his internet fame.

Over the weekend we got a whole lot of amazing albums dropped on us, including this one from singer-songwriter and producer James Blake. The Colour In Anything marks his third studio album release, and has already been acknowledged as one of the best albums of the year so far. The London born musician has a knack for bringing out the beauty in heartbreak and solitude and does it once again on this album. The album runs a little over an hour and is driven by poetic lyrics, pulsing percussion and rich keyboard playing throughout.
