After listening to this throwback demo mixtape of Kanye instrumentals, the phrase “I Love The Old Kanye” definitely holds true. Consisting of eight unreleased beats, the tape was originally owned by a Miami record exec who passed in the early 2000’s and has been auctioned off twice since. The new owner and Soundcloud user Trilly Madison decided to be a true hero, and upload the whole tape for streaming.
The soulful, sample heavy, laid back instrumentals are works of simplistic beauty that showcase a sound far removed from Kanye’s more recent productions. Yet this tape is a true representation of the sound which made Kanye one of the most sought out producers in his early career.

Mike Dean has helped build sounds for many of our favorite artists; most notably Kanye, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Selena, and Travis Scott. Now the Houston born producer is making waves of his own with a string of releases on Soundcloud. His latest one is a synth heavy trap instrumental, reminiscent of the vibe we got from Yeezus. Three years later, and the Montreal native producer is now putting out one of the years most anticipated albums in 99.9%. From the moment he dropped “GLOWED UP” featuring Anderson.Paak, it was certain amongst those awaiting the LP release, that it would exceed all expectations. With the album now out, and multiple tour dates selling out quickly, it seems as though this will be the year Kaytranada truly gets his, and goes beyond his internet fame.

The posthumous project from the late Chicago-based producer DJ Rashad is now available for purchase and streaming. Released by Teklife Records, Afterlife features 14 previously unreleased collaboration songs by Rashad and other Teklife producers including DJ Earl, DJ Spinn, Gant-Man. The project showcases the influential sound that DJ Rashad had left behind, which mixed everything from hip-hop, techno, house and soul together at the energetic BPM of 160.
A percentage of profits from the album will be donated to Rashad’s family. Stream the album below and purchase the record here.
