After catching the OVO pop-R&B duo perform for the first time in New York, it was clearly evident that Majid Jordan are destined for mainstream success. Not only was lead singer Majid Al Maskati the perfect combination of confident and humble on stage, but that boy can definitely sing and control a crowd. While producer Jordan Ullman is easily one of the more lovable guys to see on the keys, with a constant smile and positive presence that brought the crowd to chant his name several times throughout the show.
They recently headlined a Boiler Room set in their hometown of Toronto, and this time Jordan took the lead as he spun an impressive mix of house, grime and hip hop tracks. Watch the entire set above, and make sure to check out their debut self-titled album if you haven’t yet.
Tame Impala’s former drummer and current keyboardist Jay Watson released his album under his psych rock side-project GUM last year. Tame Impala bandmate Kevin Parker has taken the album’s single, “Anesthetized Lesson”, and gave it an upbeat dance remix, which you can listen to above. If you’re feeling it check out GUM’s album, Glamorous Damage, below.
As they prep to go on their debut North American tour next week, Majid Jordan release an uptempo remix of their single “My Love” featuring Drake. Listen below.
Anybody who knows anything about Majid Jordan knows that they were the writers of Drake’s 2013 hit “Just Hold On, We’re Going Home”. Since the birth of that track, Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman have been steadily working for the OVO team as songwriters and producing on their own music as an R&B Dance duo. They eventually dropped their infectious EP A Place Like This in 2014 and we have been patiently waiting for a full length project since.
The wait was definitely worth it, and this was obvious the moment they dropped their first single, “My Love” featuring Drake. From there they previewed the album with a handful of releases, all of which you can hear below. If you’re feeling the OVO duo’s debut album, you can purchase it now.
