After listening to this throwback demo mixtape of Kanye instrumentals, the phrase “I Love The Old Kanye” definitely holds true. Consisting of eight unreleased beats, the tape was originally owned by a Miami record exec who passed in the early 2000’s and has been auctioned off twice since. The new owner and Soundcloud user Trilly Madison decided to be a true hero, and upload the whole tape for streaming.
The soulful, sample heavy, laid back instrumentals are works of simplistic beauty that showcase a sound far removed from Kanye’s more recent productions. Yet this tape is a true representation of the sound which made Kanye one of the most sought out producers in his early career.
Stream the entire project below, and pray to the hip-hop gods that more tapes like these get unearthed.
Mike Dean has helped build sounds for many of our favorite artists; most notably Kanye, Jay-Z, 2Pac, Selena, and Travis Scott. Now the Houston born producer is making waves of his own with a string of releases on Soundcloud. His latest one is a synth heavy trap instrumental, reminiscent of the vibe we got from Yeezus. Stream “Perle de Gris” below as well another recent release, “Grande Faucon”.
The dynamic duo, Cam’ron and Juelz Santana, bring back that classic Dipset sound on their new track “Oh Yeah”. Stream it below and be on catch Cam on The Smoker’s Club Tour this summer.
One of hip-hop’s most consistent producers has to be Clams Casino. So we could not be more amped for his new album, 32 Levels, to drop on July 15. Here is the first single off the project titled “Blast”. Take a listen above and dive into the man’s Soundcloud discography.
Haven’t been paying much attention to a lot of EDM that has been coming out recently, but I’m really happy I came across this track from Marshmello. “Alone” combines happy K-Pop sounds with a bouncy hardstyle beat and it turns out to be an absolute banger. Stream the track below and listen to more by Marshmello on Soundcloud.
When it comes to getting the vibe right Fargo is the dude with the right tracks to do it. After a couple run throughs, it is easy to say that Chance The Rapper’s new album, Coloring Book, is the most soulful and epic sounding hip hop records in the last couple of years. This album shouts at you, sings to you, teases you, and lifts you within the span of 14 original produced tracks.
This is the follow up to his critically acclaimed Acid Rap – the 2013 mixtape which took him from local Chicago rapper, to the genre’s most sought after independent artists.
