West Coast’s self-appointed ambassador The Game is back with the sequel to his critically acclaimed debut album, The Documentary. Hate him or love him, the underdog is back on top with this one. And you can credit that to the executive production of Dr. Dre, giving The Game some of the best beats and soundscape he has had in years.
After being criticized for falling off, the hothead of rap sounds like a reinvigorated emcee on this new project… he’s actually spitting bars and going in great detail about his Compton experiences (thank you Kendrick?). Speaking of Mr. Lamar, he’s featured on the album including Dr. Dre, Diddy, Future, Ab-Soul, Q-Tip, and Kanye West.
Even though it spans over an hour, The Documentary 2 is one of the most cohesive hip hop albums of 2015. Our favorite tracks through the first couple listens have to be “On Me”, “Standing On Ferraris”, and “Hashtag”.
